Tis the Season -- For Camping

While many northern parks have long since closed their doors for fear of letting in Old Man Winter. A lot of southern parks stay open during the Holidays, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas and New Years. Campgrounds and RV Parks are attracting new customers with new and exciting ideas, Haunted hayrides, Thanksgiving cookouts and potluck dinners, Santa Socials and News Years Eve gatherings. Well, We are no different here at Ol' MacDonald's Farm. We had our haunted hayride, it was a success for the very first year of offering it. A little over 400 came to ride the haunted hayride, children and teens and adults alike. Next year we plan on getting Bigger and better. Stay Tuned.

This year we are also offering a Santa's Social event for children to come and visit with Santa and have milk and cookies and write a letter to Santa and deliver to Santa their wish list. For those good little boys and girls, who wish to check their naughty or nice status, they can visit with Santa. Perhaps he will give you a few hints. For Adults we will be having our Ugly Sweater Contest. Photo's will be taken, and a winner chosen, and posted on our Facebook page.

From my experience as a campground manager, and as well as a avid camper in my younger years, Thanksgiving is a unique camping holiday, as it is a four-day weekend that allows families to have a Thanksgiving, cooking turkeys and hams and brisket and other items on a campfire, barbeque pit or a fryer. Next year I would like to plan a camping holiday weekend and potluck dinner here at the RV Park, unsure as to how it will go over. As we are in Northern Missouri, I am very un-assured as to the weather that we will have. I know Mom's will love the idea of a camping weekend, they will especially like the idea of not working so hard during the holiday and need to get the house and table in order. Just pull up a camper and set your campsite.
